16GB iPad components estimated to cost Apple $219
We just got word that the forthcoming iPad, which will retail starting at $499, are estimated to cost the hardware maker as little as $219.35. According to iSuppli Corp, the multi-touch 9.7-inch display on the iPad could cost around $80, while its custom-designed A4 processor, believed to be manufactured by Samsung, would cost about $17 per unit — $2 more than the chip that lies in the iPhone 3GS. In addition, the 16GB of memory is estimated to cost about $29.50.
Therefore the total cost of the parts would cost the company a mere $219, that’s well below the starting price of $499 for the 16GB iPad, which does not offer 3G connectivity. Still is won’t be the most profitable unit for Apple as iSuppli projects Apple will earn the most from selling the 32GB version with a built-in 3G radio, which will sell for $729. The combined materials and manufacturing costs for that model is estimated to cost Apple just $287.15.

Between me and my husband we’ve owned more MP3 players over the years than I can count, including Sansas, iRivers, iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

lol many of the remarks bloggers post are a bit spacey, once in awhile i really think whether they realistically scan through the pieces of article and posts before making a comment or whether they simply skim the blog post title and write the first opinion that jumps into their mind. in either case, it really is helpful to browse realistic commentary occasionally in contrast to the same, old opinion which i very often notice online.
